Posted: 30 May 2012 12:55 PM PDT Researchers needed to band and test peregrine falcon chicks living in a tower on the University of Toledo. Mama Falcon is not too happy with this. People from The Ohio Department of Natural Resource's Division of Wildlife visit every year to temporarily remove the falcon chicks from the nesting box, take blood samples and attach permanent numbered bands to their legs for tracking and future identification. Abandoned 747 Lifting In Place In Extreme Wind Conditions [Video] Posted: 29 May 2012 10:33 PM PDT This 747 is sitting in a boneyard in Mojave, CA waiting to be dismantled and recycled. On May 23rd, 2012 the area experienced extreme winds of 70+ miles per hour and reports of gusts up to 100 near the pass due to a low pressure zone. Without the weight of its engines, the slightly tail heavy 747 tries to take to the skies one last time. The next day the plane was found to have also rotated about 45 degrees from its original position. |
