Close Encounter With A Polar Bear Posted: 07 Jan 2013 12:35 PM PST Cameraman Gordon Buchanan endured an attack from a hungry female polar bear. The attack lasted 45 minutes. It was safe because the man was sitting inside a bomb-proof "perspex pod", the on-ice equivalent of a shark cage. He said: 'A lot of people think that carnivores are intrinsically dangerous but most aren't - there's a minimal risk and attacks are the exception. 'But polar bears are different, without a doubt she wanted me for lunch. She was so persistent, looking for a weak spot for almost 45 minutes. 'I was terrified and you could hear my heartbeat on the mic. It really was a sensational moment and a worrying situation. 'It shows how enormous and powerful they are.' Via dailymail |
Religion and Crime: Is There a Correlation? [Infographic] Posted: 07 Jan 2013 10:26 AM PST With secularism on the rise in the U.S. several studies for and against religion have flooded the airwaves. Some people say that an unaffiliated person would be more likely to commit a crime (as they lack moral judgement that religion provides) while others counter that a religious person is more likely to commit a crime due to religious zeal. Are there more individuals charged with property crimes, such as robbery and theft, in states that are less religious than others? In this infographic from Total Criminal Defense, we'll investigate whether or not there is a correlation between religion and crime. Click on Image to Enlarge. Via: Total Criminal Defense |
