In celebration of Team Fortress 2 going free to play on Steam this week, Valve has released a new character video called "Meet the Medic," which you should watch because it's hilarious.

There's not a whole lot else to say about it. If you haven't downloaded Team Fortress 2 on Steam, why not, and if you have, great. Enjoy this video.

Planking Craze

Planking is an activity, popular in various parts of the world, consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The location should also be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved.

This, our humble collection, chronicles what we regard as the finest plankers the Internet has to offer. If you're inspired to plank yourself, do so with caution; planking has already cost people their jobs and their lives. Keep reading below, and plank safe!

Porsche 911 Gets Shot up with Ammunition

The owner of one unfortunate Porsche 911 decided to donate his car to charity after the machine vomited up its engine and entire cooling system. After the mechanic handed over an estimate of close to U.S. $20,000 to have the Stuttgart-bred heathen repaired, the owner tossed the keys to Commonwealth Second Amendment. The U.S. charity group is dedicated to reforming Massachusetts gun laws and decided to use the silver Porsche as a fundraiser. Over 140 individuals showed with weapons and ammunition, forming a formidable firing squad.

Who owns the trail of digital breadcrumbs you're leaving behind?

Is understanding who you know and how you know them and where you visit and what you're interested in and what you buy worth anything?

Perhaps you should own it. Richard Thaler's provocative idea shouldn't be that provocative, and it represents a significant business opportunity. He argues that you (not some company) ought to own your caller history, your credit card history, etc. If it was available to you as a machine-readable file, you could easily submit it to another company and see if there was a better deal available. You could make your preferences and your history (you, basically) portable, and others could bid for a chance to do better for you.

This is an idea that feels inevitable to me, and I think that entrepreneurs shouldn't wait for the government to require it. There are already services that scrape financial pages (like Mint), but it could go further. We need software on our phones that can remember where we go and what we do, software for our browsers that can create profiles that save us time and money, and most of all, software for our email that gets ever smarter about who we are and who we're connecting to.

Data about data is more important than ever, and being on the side of the person creating that data is a smart place to be.
