Kuroshio Sea - 2nd Largest Aquarium Tank in the World

This awesome tank is found at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan.

The main tank called the 'Kuroshio Sea' holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water and features the world's second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters by 22.5 meters with a thickness of 60centimeters. Whale sharks and manta rays are kept amongst many other fish species in the main tank.

The music is "Please don't go" by Barcelona.

Toddlers and Tiaras Star Eden Wood

Eden Wood is a beauty queen whose face, clothing, hair and accessories are all done on a regular basis for one purpose: winning. She is a beauty pageant queen who was featured on TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras and now she is making her own music video -- all at the tender age of five.

The song, called Cutie Patootie is the same one she performed on CBS's The Talk, includes lines like: "shakin' my booty" (done with a little rump shake) and talks about money, looks and affection, things a 5-year-old probably should not be thinking about, let alone singing about on national television.



It is easy to pick on child beauty pageants and doing so is like shooting fish in a barrel. Yes, it is gross that this little girl is made up and singing about grown-up things, but I am more curious about what she will be like when she is older.

Gun Accidentally Discharges

is is a gunshot accident that was just waiting to happen. A man got into his car and when he went to fasten his seatbelt, his Glock 18 accidently discharged. The gunshot blew a 9mm hole through the bottom of the leather seat of his car's door frame, his underwear, and his pants. Luckily, the man was only slightly injured.

The victim says:
"What the hell was that?!?" she said. It took me a half a second to realize that my gun had just gone off…on my hip…in its holster. My wife and I had just finished breakfast at our favorite café and got into the car.

Me being the passenger, I rotated my torso to the left to fasten my seatbelt like I always do. When I straightened again, my Glock 19 discharged, blowing a 9mm hole through my pants, underwear, the leather seat and bottom of the car's door frame.
The bullet nicked my hip, but the wound is nothing a bandage couldn't cover. So what went wrong? Guns never go "Bang" all by themselves.

After ensuring I wasn't hemorrhaging profusely and didn't have to make a dash for the hospital, I stayed seated in the car as my wife came around to my door and opened it. I undid my belt and slid the Galco JAK202 Slide Belt Holster, with the gun still in it, off my belt. Why it went off was immediately apparent.

Weed Out Your Lowest Performing Pages [Panda Strategies]

This morning I set myself a challenge. Using some inspiration from recent excellent ideas, strategies and articles about the Panda update, I decided to see if I could cobble together a quick strategy to weed out pages that might be deemed as “low quality” in the eyes of Google's most recent major algorithm update.

I gave myself two hours to get the data and to put this post together, with the intention that you'll be able to download the template and pick up your analysis from where I left off.

It’s all about poor performance

This methodology should help you identify poorly performing pages that have few, if any links and a high average bounce rate across a wide spectrum of keywords. This might help you identify any page candidates that need a rethink.

Step 1 – Head to Google Analytics

Head over to analytics and navigate to Traffic Sources > Search Engines:

Now, select “Google”

Step 2 – Get lots of raw data

Make sure you can get your hands on plenty of data by inserting the &limit=50000 query into your report URL. This might come in handy later!

Step 3 – Sort by landing page

We’re interested in landing page performance, so in your left hand sort column, select “landing page”

Step 4 – Download the data as CSV and create an Excel Table

Ok so far so good – by now you should have a rich data set all tuckered up in Excel. To make your data into a table, highlight it and press CTRL-L on your keyboard.

Step 5 – Head to Open Site Explorer

Next, we’re going to export all the links data that Open Site Explorer can give us, and use VLOOKUP to add the number of links to each URL in our table. Whee!

If you’re not familiar with VLOOKUP, check out Mike’s awesome guide to Excel for SEOs. Create an Open Site Explorer top pages report (My favourite report since, ever), download the data and throw it in an Excel tab called “Top Pages”.

Tip: for the purpose of this blog post, you’ll need to remove the domain name from the Open Site Explorer data. Do a find and replace for your domain, replacing the domain URL with nothing, like this:

Step 6 – VLOOKUP time

Next, you’re going to need to combine the analytics data with the top pages data from OSE. Create a new column in your analytics data called “Links” and add your VLOOKUP, just like this:

Pro tip: use IFERROR to weed out any nasty N/A errors, replacing them with a 0, like this:

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP([@[Landing Page]],toppages,6,0),0)

Step 7 – Create your pivot table

With a complete data set, you’re now able to create your pivot table. Insert a pivot table and setup your filters, labels and values like this:

Step 8 – Filter by bounce, visits and use conditional formatting

At the end of my data mashing, I came up with this table:

I can only imagine what this data might look like on an extremely content thin, "low value" site. Any page with a very high bounce rate, measurable level of traffic and low / no links might cause some concern and there are certainly a few pages in this list I’d like to take a closer look at.

PRO Tip: Add your keyword data

I have a working theory that it’s good to have a complete picture of a landing page’s performance. In principle, you could build a more complete picture using keyword data. Think about it like this: if a page has a slightly below par bounce rate, with the keyword data intact you can investigate the problem a little further. Is there a specific keyword that’s causing a problem? How would you approach this problem?

I’ve mentioned incorporating living URL’s into your SEO strategy before.  Now that I have been experimenting with them for a while, I have some tips about using them a little bit more intelligently.

If you read fashion magazines, you know that every year they publish a spring fashion update; bridal magazines publish new spring wedding dresses; and bands that have been around a long time will always return to give concerts in major cities like New York or Los Angeles. Traditionally, publishers would use a solution like this:

To use the living URL strategy, you need to understand how Google handles dates and to know when to use them and when to avoid them. My recommendation is to keep the year in the page/html title (updating it every year) but to keep the year out of the URL. So it would look like this:

Title: Women’s Spring Fashion For 2011
URL: example.com/womens-spring-fashion/

Title: Spring Bridal Dresses 2011
URL: example.com/spring-bridal-dresses/

Title: U2 Concert Tickets Madison Square Garden 2011
URL: example.com/u2-concert-tickets-madison-square-garden/

In the examples used above, I would put up new content on the existing URL’s and not save the old content. However, there are some cases where you would want to save the content, as in my WordPress SEO plugins post, but that’s a decision you’re going to have to make for yourself based on your niche and whether the archived content has value. A third option is to put the new content on the old URL and move the old content on a new URL. It sounds complicated, but it’s really pretty easy. I go into more detail in keeping an editorial calendar in the new car model section.

Next you need to consider the implications of social media on your living URL strategy. If your blog auto tweets new posts, you’ll need to clear/reset the fields that control those actions. Next, you need to update the publish date, especially if you do any date-based sorting or displays or if you include the date in your XML site map. If your content has a link bait social bookmarking quality, you need to experiment with how the site you are targeting handles submitting the same URL. I suggest experimenting with someone else’s domain–not your own. I suggest that you try adding parameters or try camouflaging your intent with dummy parameters like “utm_source=rss”.

So what are the takeaways from this post:

  • Use predictive SEO and an editorial calendar to identify candidates for a living URL strategy.
  • Use the date in the title but avoid it in the URL.
  • Have a plan for archiving, relocating, or eliminating the old content.
  • Update the publish date and reset any autotweet fields.
  • Know how any social media sites handle resubmissions. Try using parameters as a workaround.
