The Worst Playground Idea Ever

Posted: 10 Jun 2011 11:44 PM PDT

After watching this I'm left with many questions but only two stand out. What was the original intention of this invention and who was the moron that thought it would go great on a children's playground? This should probably not have been used in the playground.

Funny Photoshopped Russian Wedding Pictures

Posted: 10 Jun 2011 11:21 PM PDT

It seems that some couples find their wedding moments not vivid enough. They believe that photo editing can make the memories of the wedding day even much more impressive and close the boring gaps with the help of the powerful Photoshop. There seems to be a flying theme throughout many of the photos, which is hopefully because the two want to fly away to their honeymoon and not from each other.

Scary Ventriloquist Dummies

Posted: 10 Jun 2011 10:45 PM PDT

Ventriloquist's dummies, being so distinctively human and yet at the same time, so not human are just a little bit creepy...and in some cases, a lot creepy.

In the past the dummies used by ventriloquist were not as funny as they are today, actually they were weird and creepy looking and i can't find any good reason why a sane person would find pleasure in watching such a show. These days however things have changed and ventriloquist like Jeff Dunham give some of the most entertaining comedy show on Earth!

Coober Pedy - The Underground Town in Australia

Posted: 10 Jun 2011 10:13 PM PDT

The Australian town of Coober Pedy has a population of around 2,000 and is famous for two things. Firstly, the town is known as the opal capital of the world because of the quantity of precious gems that are mined there. Secondly, and the reason for this gallery, Coober Pedy is renowned for it's underground residences, mostly in refurbished mines.

The severe desert climate made a lot of residents move to live underground, in caves. In summer temperatures on the surface can reach 40-50 degrees Celsius (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit). A cave home usually has three bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and lounge that are excavated out of the rock in the hillsides. Such homes don't require air-conditioning, because they remain at a constant temperature.

Coober Pedy attracts tourists from all over the world. The mines, underground churches and graveyard are the most interesting attractions here. The trees you can find in this town are iron welded. You can play golf at night only to avoid hot temperatures. The local golf is free of grass that is why players take a small piece of tee-off turf with them.

Coober Pedy is featured in many movies, including Opal Dream, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Red Planet and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. NASA is planning to train astronauts for a planned mission to Mars here in 2012.

Seth's Blog : Getting funded is not the same as succeeding

Getting funded is not the same as succeeding

The goal isn't to get money from a VC, just as the goal isn't to get into Harvard. Those are stepping stones, filters that some successful people have made their way through.

If you alter your plans and your approach and your vision in order to grab that imprimatur, understand that it might get in the way of the real point of the exercise, which is to build an organization that makes a difference.

I don't care so much how much money you raised, or who you raised it from. I care a lot about who your customers are and why (or if) they're happy.

Groupthink is almost always a sign of trouble, and it's particularly dangerous when it revolves around what gets funded, and why.
