Google Hacks You Didn't Know You Could Use

Posted: 14 Jul 2014 02:45 PM PDT

You probably use Google every single day but here are few things you probably didn't know Google could do.

Use Google as a timer:
Just type "Set timer 30 minutes" (or however long you want) in quotes, and the countdown begins!

Google will calculate your tip for you:
Type "tip calculator," and a tip calculator will magically appear and do your bidding.

Search for special days:
Type in an important upcoming day and Google will automatically provide you with the date it's occurring on and a brief description of what it's all about. Saint Swithin's Day is coming up, you guys!

You can also use the same method to get movie release dates…

A full schedule for your favorite shows…

Songs by your favorite bands…

And a list of books by your favorite authors:

You can also get quick flight schedules:

The exact time of the sunrise in your city:

Info on a company's founders:

You can tell Google to do a barrel roll:

Or tilt, ever so slightly, to the right:

Searching for "recursion" will get you into a dangerous infinite loop:

And searching "Anagram" will get you some nifty anagrams you can use to impress all your friends:

A "Festivus" search brings up a beautiful aluminum Festivus pole:

"Binary" and "hexadecimal" take you directly into the land of the nerds:

And while you're there, you may as well try Googling "Zerg Rush":
You can actually play this game: Click as fast as you can on the O's as they attack your screen to save your search results from the Zerg.

Google will also show you the etymology of certain words…

A calorie comparison of your favorite foods…

Or you can go back to a happier time:
Just type "Google in 1998" in the search bar and you can search Google as if you were back in the glorious '90s.

What Rebuilding America Means for You

Our nation's infrastructure has long been our economic backbone. A well-performing transportation network keeps jobs in America, allows businesses to expand, and lowers prices on household goods for American families.

But we've been investing in our infrastructure less and less -- and, as a result, congestion and maintenance backlogs have gone up:

  • 65% of our roads are rated in less than good condition
  • 25% of our bridges require significant repair or can't handle today's traffic
  • 45% of Americans lack access to transit

It's time to rebuild our roads and bridges in a smarter, more responsible way while supporting millions of jobs.

See how your state is affected, and learn how the President's plan will rebuild America.

What's at stake if Congress doesn't act
