Keeping America on the cutting edge President Obama is making sure America stays at the forefront of innovation. Yesterday, the President announced two new public-private manufacturing innovation institutes -- one in Chicago and one in the Detroit area -- and a competition for the first of four additional institutes that will boost advanced manufacturing in the United States. American manufacturers have created 622,000 jobs since early 2010, and President Obama is committed to building on that progress. "If we want to attract more good manufacturing jobs to America," he said, "we've got to make sure we're on the cutting edge of new manufacturing techniques and technologies." Just this afternoon, the President announced that the Department of Transportation is making available $600 million in Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants, a tremendously successful program investing in our nation's infrastructure. Those grants won't just help repair our crumbling roads and bridges -- they'll create more jobs in the process.
